It's hard to fault the Ship - it's a spacious, well-run pub, well known pub with an excellent and varied menu and Young's beers for the thirsty. It makes the most of its unprepossessing (back of the bus station), riverside location which makes it incredibly popular in summer - this place's only downside. And they're obviously working to maximise this advantage, as every available bit of land between the pub and the river that isn't road has chairs and tables on it - it obviously gets busy and they've got the American size barbecues to cope with the demand. There's been an increase in riverside apartment blocks nearby, which means the crowds have continued to grow - great for the owners, but not so good if you're looking for a quiet waterside pint in summer. Off-season though a very good pub indeed.

Hard to find but totally worth it. Friendly staff who have worked there for years. Excellent beers, very good food but not cheap. Definately well worth a visit.
