The King's Arms is yet another pub that's taken its name back and guess what? It's another sports bar on the way to Craven Cottage! We can almost smell a theme developing here... It's not a bad place when there's no sport on, but then that atmosphere probably makes it more electric - or more crowded, depending on the game, of course. We're fairly certain that, given it's proximity to Putney Bridge Station, this one gets rammed on match days. On other days, it's fairly quiet and mums with their push chairs come in to take a load off. The staff are friendly enough, and the bitter we had to try from the several local choices on the taps - "Dam Fine Beaver Beer" - was very good and well kept. So it's flouting normal sports bar etiquette and providing decent ale as well as all the lager choices. It's still part of the Capital Pub Company, but they've obviously decided on a new tack for this pub. It looks pretty good to us, so let's hope they keep it going. Oh, and there is a garden overlooking the road, which has massive heaters over it - but we guess you have to like the smell of traffic, a bit.
