From Putney Bridge tube, find the bridge and cross over it. Walk a short way straight down Putney High Street and Lacy Road is the 4th on the right and the pub is a little way down on the right. From Putney BR, exit right and Lacy Road is the 3rd on the left.
Coat & Badge is only 30 feet from Putney High Street, but if you didn't know it was there, you'd easily miss this pub. The large enclosed, high hedged front garden hides the building away nicely and the only indication of a pub is the hanging sign. The Coat and Badge has recently undergone the transformation of joining a pub group and frankly hasn't suffered for the changes. It's a friendly, comfortable pub just off the High Street, but it could be in any village. Decent beer, a good food menu and welcoming staff are always a plus and this one's a good place to aim for. The massive beer garden out the front is a magnet in warmer weather, with what looks like a humungous barbecue under a tarpaulin, promising fantastic summer evenings under the stars with lashings of sausages and burgers. With the change in the weather, the open fire was very inviting although we didn't get near it - one of the regulars had already taken up residence in front of it. Board games, kid friendly, great staff, all combine for a pleasant experience.
