picture of Cricketers
The Cricketers is a familiar sight to any day tripper here in the Lanes. It's a popular place - very popular at weekends, with shoppers resting their weary bones and carrier-bags during the day and a constant flow of Brighton pub-crawlers in the evening - and it's easy to see why this pub is so popular. The Cricketers is in a prominent location, it offers a range of good ales on the hand pumps, a decent wine list and it's all wrapped up in a cosy, knickknack-filled, Victorian interior. There's been a pub here since the mid-16th Century and allegedly was the pub in Graham Greene's Brighton Rock. Although, nowadays you won't get to meet Kolly Kibber or Pinkie (thankfully) here, the Cricketers is well worth a visit if you want to enjoy a pint of real ale in a good old traditional pub atmosphere. Just try and time it so you miss the crowds.
